Sharjah 24: To celebrate World Quality Day, the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) hosted a distinctive event the morning before yesterday. One of the highlights was a field visit to Al Houma Sewage Station, showcasing the latest eco-friendly construction technologies. This was followed at 10:00 a.m. by an environmental tour of the Wasit Wetlands Centre, where participants explored sustainable operational practices and their role in enhancing quality of life. The morning continued with a group lunch at 11:00 a.m., which boosted team spirit and institutional belonging. The session concluded with an interactive workshop about quality and institutional excellence. The training focused on modern methods for improving organisational performance and incorporating quality in engineering and service projects.

A pledge to ever improve
This initiative is part of the department's efforts to implant the concept of continuous improvement and encourage people to adhere to quality standards in all procedures, which aligns with the Sharjah Government's goal of leadership and institutional excellence. Engineer Hind Makram, in charge of the Strategic Planning and Quality Centre, stated, "Today, we celebrate quality not just as an administrative concept, but as a way of life for the entire institution, applied to every project and initiative." The department's World Quality Day activities demonstrate their commitment to developing a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. They also want to ensure that staff appreciate the importance of quality in making a difference in society and achieving long-term goals. We are proud of our accomplishments and remain committed to developing in accordance with the highest worldwide standards.

Think about what you've done !
Issa Sharar, Head of the Quality and Excellence Department, underlined that "On 13 November each year, the world celebrates World Quality Day, which provides an opportunity for the Public Works Department to reflect on its key achievements and successes." These accomplishments stem from a strong belief in quality and excellence, which motivates the organisation to produce high-quality services. The department aims to provide the best services to the community through strategic planning, which will motivate everyone to accomplish more and maintain a high level of quality.

The Quality Day Agent's Introduction

Engineer Shahd Al Ali of the department's Planning Centre introduced the "Quality Day Agent" programme as part of the "Quality: Think Differently" event. The virtual smart agent assists workers in developing innovative approaches to increase quality and performance. It transforms broad concepts into strategies that can be implemented in a month. It provides fresh approaches to tackle everyday problems, practical advice on how to increase service quality and operational efficiency, assistance in making decisions based on creative thinking and rigorous analysis, and tools for setting KPIs and deadlines. The Quality Day Agent is an interactive tool that fosters an environment of excellence and continuous development. It encourages staff to think differently in accordance with the leadership's objective of enhancing government performance and attaining the highest quality standards.
