On January 5, 2015, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued an administrative decision regarding the establishment of a news website in the Emirate of Sharjah named "Sharjah 24". The platform operates under the Sharjah Government Media Bureau and publishes content in both Arabic and English.
In February 2015, "Sharjah 24" was officially launched as the Emirate of Sharjah’s official online news platform. It focuses on covering news related to Sharjah and public affairs in the United Arab Emirates, in addition to delivering Arab and international news with transparency and objectivity.
