Sharjah 24: Reaffirming its commitment to community service and the values of gratitude and respect, the Sharjah Department of Public Works announced its active participation in the humanitarian initiative “Antum Jannatna” (“You Are Our Paradise”). Organised by the Sharjah Social Services Department, the initiative saw strong engagement from the Department’s employees, who helped fill gift bags dedicated to senior citizens, in recognition of their lifelong contributions and their vital role in building society. Staff from various sections and departments took part in the event.

Commitment to social responsibility

Amal Al Ali, Head of Public Relations at the Corporate Communication Centre, explained that this initiative is part of a series of community-focused activities regularly carried out by the Department and its volunteer team in line with the “Year of Community”. She stressed that the initiative embodies authentic Emirati values, strengthens the Directorate’s bond with the local community, and reflects its institutional mission of serving the nation and its people.

Encouraging participation

The Department urged its employees to continue taking part in upcoming volunteer activities and to contribute ideas for new initiatives aimed at bringing joy to different segments of society. Teamwork and solidarity, it emphasised, are the foundation of a positive and motivating work environment.

About the initiative

The “Antum Jannatna” project, organised by the Sharjah Social Services Department, runs from 11 August to 11 September 2025 to coincide with the International Day of Older Persons. It aims to honour senior citizens, highlight their central role in building society, and enhance their integration into the fabric of everyday community life.
