Sharjah 24: The Dibba Al Hisn Parents' Council, affiliated with Sharjah Districts Affairs Department (SDAF), in cooperation with the Masafi Cultural Centre and the Family Development Department and its branches, Dibba Al Hisn Branch, organised an educational awareness programme entitled "Sustaining Family Peace."

Consolidating the foundations of family understanding

The programme is part of its efforts to enhance family awareness and instil a culture of constructive dialogue within the community. The programme is part of a series of "Bridges of Communication" programmes for parents. Through these programmes, the council seeks to consolidate the foundations of family understanding and build an environment that supports children's psychological and social development.

This programme, which was implemented on Monday at the Council's headquarters, embodies the strategy of the Community Councils in the Emirate of Sharjah, which focuses on strengthening ties between the family and community institutions by organising specialised events that promote a culture of conscious parenting and support family stability.

Empowering the family and strengthening its cohesion

This programme stems from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to empower the family and strengthen its cohesion as the nucleus of society and the foundation of its stability.

The programme addressed two main themes presented in an interactive manner.

"The Role of the Mother in Sustaining Family Peace”

The first, titled "The Role of the Mother in Sustaining Family Peace," was discussed by Professor Amal Al Zeyoudi, who reviewed the foundations that enable mothers to fulfill their educational and emotional roles within the family, emphasising the importance of emotional containment and setting a good example in raising children on the foundations of love and trust.

"Effective Family Communication Skills”

The second session, titled "Effective Family Communication Skills," was presented by Professor Amna Al-Dhahouri. She highlighted the importance of emotional balance within the family and the need to understand individual differences among family members. She also addressed positive communication methods between parents and children, as the most important means of bridging gaps and overcoming daily challenges in a home environment characterized by respect and appreciation.

Positive interaction

The meeting was well attended by parents and women interested in family and community affairs. The programme was characterised by positive interaction between the lecturers and the attendees, through discussion sessions and practical exercises that presented real-life scenarios, with the aim of training mothers to manage family situations rationally and compassionately.

The two speakers and the attendees agreed that achieving family peace does not mean the absence of disagreements, but rather the ability to manage them with a spirit of wisdom and understanding. They noted that a conscious family is one that listens well, respects diversity within it, and works to instil noble values in its members, achieving the psychological and social balance necessary for the stability of society as a whole.

Practical recommendations

The programme concluded with a set of practical recommendations for parents, most notably: allocating time for regular dialogue with children, understanding each child's different ways of expressing themselves, and providing a positive role model. Several women shared successful real-life experiences with the attendees, serving as role models for building cohesive families.

Conclusion and honouring

At the end of the programme, attendees expressed their appreciation for the usefulness and richness of the information provided during the meeting, praising the Council's efforts in organsing such unique programmes and calling for their regular repetition to enhance family culture in society.

The two speakers were also honoured in recognition of their knowledge and their extensive efforts in raising awareness among families and promoting the concepts of family peace, amid praise from the participating and supporting parties.
