The announcement was made during the 48th extraordinary GCC ministerial meeting, held virtually and chaired by Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya, who is also the current Chairman of the GCC Ministerial Session. The meeting focused on urgent regional developments.
Al-Budaiwi stated that the activation of the centre comes in light of the sensitive situation and the potential for serious technical and environmental repercussions, particularly if nuclear facilities are targeted.
He emphasised that the centre will coordinate with specialized agencies in GCC member states to implement preventive measures, both environmental and radiological, and to closely monitor all technical indicators.
Reassuring the public, Al-Budaiwi confirmed that all current technical indicators remain within safe limits. However, he stressed the importance of maintaining a state of high alert to ensure readiness for any potential developments.
