Sharjah 24: The Mleiha Mountain Bike Challenge, organised by the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC), witnessed the participation of 121 athletes and amateurs, as part of a series of community sports events. The participants covered a distance of 26 km, and the winners of the first places from different age groups were honoured.
The coronation and honouring of the winners was witnessed by His Excellency Musabah Saeed Al Ketbi, Director of Mleiha Municipality, His Excellency Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, and Dr. Yasser Omar Al Dokhi, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department at the Council.
The results of the categories were as follows:
- Electric bike race for citizens men: won by Saif Al Mazmi, and for the open category, first Ted Loria, second Hussein Al Mahlati, and third Levi Mars.
- Desert bike race for citizens men: first Marlon Mendoza, second Dennis Primero, and third Werner Leban.
- Road bike race for men: first Cliff Pearson, second Philip Klepatrick, and third Francis Reyes.
- Mountain bike race for men: first Alvin Delos, second Dorvin Ilos, and third Adrian Montemayor.
Dr. Yasser Al Dokhi thanked all participants in the event, which achieved its success with the interaction of everyone from bicycle enthusiasts and lovers to the supporting and sponsoring entities that contributed to the distinction of the event.
He pointed out that it came as one of the distinguished community sports events this year and considered that the event witnessed a good turnout despite its difficulty for mountain bike categories. It also contributes to promoting sports tourism through the gateway of sports and ensuring the diversity of community sports events in various cities, including the wonderful Mleiha.
