“I Am the Community” activities continue at Mleiha Sports and Cultural Club in the coming days, offering a vibrant summer scene brimming with energy and creativity. The programme reflects institutional efforts to shape a generation that is aware, rooted, and confident in its ability to contribute to the nation’s future.
During the visit, the delegation carried out a comprehensive field tour of the club’s facilities. They observed a variety of community, educational and sports activities held under the "I Am the Community" theme—aligned with the programme’s goals of instilling national values, fostering responsibility and initiative, and strengthening participants’ ties with their local community.
Among the highlights was the “Welcoming the Guest – Marhaban Al Sa’a” workshop, offering an interactive experience in the art of Emirati hospitality. Young participants learned traditional customs of welcoming and generosity, deeply rooted in the local heritage, in an atmosphere reminiscent of traditional majlis gatherings—reviving pride in authenticity and cultural identity.
The club also showcased the “Volunteer from My Community” workshop, organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work. The session was met with notable engagement, introducing participants to the concept of volunteering, its importance in shaping a responsible citizen, and its role in serving the community and strengthening human bonds.
The visit included a field trip to the Falconers Club in the Mleiha area, where participants joined the “Falconry: Identity and Art” event. There, they explored the cultural and historical significance of falconry, observed training techniques, and learned about the special bond between falconers and their birds. The experience left a lasting educational and cultural impression.
In a gesture that highlighted social values, the delegation, alongside the participants, visited the Elderly Care Centre under the Sharjah Social Services Department in Mleiha. The children expressed their appreciation and respect for senior citizens through heartfelt conversations and well-wishes—an encounter that strengthened intergenerational ties and promoted values of compassion and solidarity.
The visit also included direct observation of the club’s daily sports and physical activities, which ranged from team games to individual sports and traditional recreational games. The lively sessions aimed to foster teamwork, a sense of place, and provide participants with an enjoyable and healthy summer experience.
Members of the visiting delegation expressed their admiration for the high standard of activities on offer, noting their strong organisation, variety, and educational value. They praised the cultural and developmental spirit that permeates the programme and the enthusiastic participation of the children. The team affirmed that Mleiha Sports and Cultural Club stands as a successful model in implementing the Council’s vision of investing in the potential of young people through safe and meaningful programming.
For his part, Abdulrahman Muheir Al Ketbi expressed his appreciation for the visit, considering it a valuable motivation to continue striving for excellence. He thanked the Sharjah Sports Council for its continued support and trust, stating: “We take pride in what has been achieved so far in the third week of the programme. The Evaluation Committee’s commendation gives us great impetus to continue offering pioneering initiatives that meet the needs of our youth and instil in them the values of identity and belonging. We remain committed to providing an integrated educational and recreational summer environment that meets our community’s aspirations and aligns with our wise leadership’s vision.”
