Sharjah24: As part of the UAE's celebrations for World Arabic Language Day, Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club organised a special event under the slogan "The Language of Al-Dhad, Identity and Pride," held at the club's headquarters with more than 100 participants. The festive highlighted the importance of the Arabic language in enhancing cultural identity and national belonging.
The event witnessed wide participation from athletes and members of sports teams, alongside school students, parents, and various government entities.
Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni, Chairman of Mleiha Cultural and Sports Club, attended the celebration, along with board members and community and cultural figures who affirmed their ongoing support for such awareness and cultural initiatives.
The event featured a variety of programmes, notably a cultural competition titled "My Language in My Sport," where participants competed to answer questions that included national and sports-related information, showcasing their Arabic language skills in an enjoyable and interactive setting.
Additionally, the event included an interactive workshop on Arabic calligraphy aimed at teaching participants how to write some sports terms in Arabic calligraphy styles. It also featured a visual presentation titled "Arabic Language: A Renewed Creativity," which emphasised the importance of the Arabic language and its historical and scientific role as a language of creativity and a thriving civilization.
The event concluded with praise from attendees for the quality and purposefulness of the presented segments, highlighting the importance of repeating such cultural initiatives that combine sports and cultural identity, contributing to creating an educational and competitive environment that fosters creativity and belonging among youth.
In a statement on this occasion, Mohammed Sultan Al Khasouni expressed his pride in the event's success, stating that it reflects Mleiha Club's commitment to instilling the importance of the Arabic language among younger generations and promoting national identity values and pride in our rich Arab culture, especially among youth and athletes.
He added that the broad participation in the event and the enthusiasm shown by the players and participants reflect the awareness of the significance of celebrating the Arabic language as a language of identity and heritage.
