Sharjah24: In yet another milestone highlighting the continuous growth of women’s sports in Sharjah, the Sharjah Women’s Sports Club claimed third place at the UAE Open Poomsae Championship. Organised by the UAE Taekwondo Federation, the event took place on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Sharjah Sports Club’s Hazana venue and featured intense competition among 13 clubs from across the country.
The team delivered an impressive performance, earning 11 medals in total, showcasing the exceptional skills and dedication of its athletes. Salama Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Tala Waseem, and Jana Sameer stood out by clinching gold medals, demonstrating their technical excellence and poise in the competition. Additionally, Noon Mariam Mohiuddin secured a silver medal, reflecting her unwavering commitment and hard work.

Bronze medals were awarded to several talented athletes, including Menna Fatima Mohiuddin, Sadeel Al-Ahmed, Stanay Yenal, Shamma Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Kawthar Youssef, Rawda Mohammed Siddiq, and Jana Gamal Eldin. Their performances exemplified high standards of skill and determination, reflecting the club's rigorous preparation and teamwork.

Despite the formidable competition, especially from top-performing clubs such as Fujairah Martial Arts Club, which secured first place, and Oryx Taekwondo Centre, the runner-up, Sharjah Women’s Sports Club managed to cement its position on the podium, earning a well-deserved third place amidst a highly competitive field.

This achievement is a testament to the unwavering support of the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation under the leadership of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. Her dedication to advancing women’s sports in the emirate has been instrumental in the club’s success. Strategic institutional backing, comprehensive training, and adherence to the highest standards have been pivotal in delivering these results.

This accomplishment serves as a significant motivation for the team to continue excelling in future competitions. The athletes’ dedication and perseverance reflect Sharjah’s vision for women’s sports — a vision aimed at achieving further successes and proudly representing the UAE on the global stage.
