Sharjah 24: His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, announced the successful conclusion of the first edition of the Sharjah Sports Excellence Leadership Programme, during the closing ceremony held, on Wednesday, at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. He affirmed that the initiative marked a qualitative leap in building a comprehensive, institutional sports system in the Emirate, guided by precise national and international standards, with the participation of 23 sports clubs.

Milestone Event Celebrates Strategic Transformation

His Excellency revealed that the efforts of the Sharjah Sports Council culminated in the closing ceremony of the programme, with the participation of 23 sports clubs from across the Emirate. He emphasised that the initiative has launched a significant shift toward an integrated institutional sports ecosystem, shaped by rigorous local and global criteria.

Strategic Categories to Drive Measurable Progress

Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah 24,” Al Hazami noted that the programme was launched in April 2024 and consists of 11 categories, four of which were implemented in its inaugural cycle. These were used to measure the progress of Sharjah’s strategic sports plan and to assess the strengths and areas for improvement within sports clubs and institutions. The outcomes, he added, confirm the sector’s readiness to move into a more professional and sustainable phase.

Extensive Evaluations and Groundwork

The Chairman explained that the programme’s committees received 124 submissions from clubs, of which only two were excluded for not meeting the criteria. The remaining files underwent 80 evaluation interviews and 21 field visits, carried out according to accredited methodologies. This allowed assessment teams to accurately gauge performance levels and pinpoint improvement opportunities.

He added that the programme's working groups held 70 awareness and educational meetings with participating clubs, in addition to 50 formal meetings of the Higher Committee. Furthermore, 20 training workshops and introductory seminars were held to promote a culture of excellence among sports personnel.

Qualified Evaluators and Digital Infrastructure

Al Hazami highlighted that 15 internal assessors were trained, and 14 external experts were brought in to ensure neutrality and objectivity. A comprehensive digital platform was also launched to receive submissions and streamline evaluation procedures—boosting transparency and enhancing process efficiency.
