Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) provides training to secondary and university students, through the annual summer training programme to instill positive principles and values among students.
This comes within the framework of its constant endeavour to consolidate the foundations of community partnership, and the exchange of experiences between government institutions, entities and departments on the one hand, and the education sector on the other hand.
Shaima Nabil Khalifa, Head of the Human Resources Department at the SDPW, stated that the training programme this year included management and engineering, in order to ensure that secondary and university students acquire the skills and experiences that help them engage in the professional life, and get to know the work environment in a realistic way.
Shaima Nabil Khalifa said that the programme aims to create a conscious generation capable of facing challenges and rapid developments, in addition to instilling noble principles and values among students.
Shaima Nabil Khalifa indicated that the administration will preserve all students' documents, and their performance will be monitored.
Amani Ali, Head of the Training and Employment Division of the Human Resources Department, confirmed that a workshop was held to familiarise students with their rights and obligations, instructions, identification card, direct form, and contact numbers with the training coordinators specialised in the programme.
Amani Ali emphasised that the Training and Employment Division in Human Resources is taking trainees seriously, so that the results will ultimately be in their favour giving them the ability and experience necessary to develop their future lives, and qualify them to join the professional life in the future.
The students were trained within the administrations of the department, and they were introduced to the mechanism of work in the different sectors and departments.
Amani Ali stated that the training included two parts, field training and practical training, based on the department's keenness to diversify the sources of knowledge for students, especially that field visits contribute to the consolidation of information, and contribute to enhancing their self-confidence to be able to create similar success stories.
