Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) announced the completion of comprehensive development works at Al Qalaa Neighbourhood Park in the city of Kalba.

This project is part of its ongoing strategy to develop community facilities and enhance the quality of life in residential neighbourhoods, meeting the needs of the local community and the directives of the Kalba Municipal Council.

A Qualitative Addition to Recreational Infrastructure

The new project represents a significant addition to the area’s recreational infrastructure. It involved implementing an integrated package of works that included the installation of modern play equipment specifically designed for children, alongside a variety of fitness devices catering to all age groups. The aim is to encourage residents to engage in physical activities and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Safety and Comfort at the Forefront

One of the key aspects of the project focused on installing indoor lighting poles arranged thoughtfully to ensure effective illumination during nighttime hours. This contributes to enhancing the safety and comfort of park visitors. Additionally, the flooring in the play areas was equipped with safe rubber materials that comply with the highest safety standards, making the park suitable and secure for families and children throughout the day.

Supporting Sharjah’s Vision for Sustainable Urban Living

The SDPW emphasised in its statement that the development of Al Qalaa Neighbourhood Park aligns with the Sharjah government’s vision to promote urban sustainability by creating and upgrading public facilities, and providing a balanced living environment that combines comfort, beauty, and safety.

Parks as Social and Cultural Pillars

The department clarified that public park projects are not limited to serving as natural recreational spaces for residents; rather, they form an integral part of the social and cultural fabric that the Emirate seeks to strengthen. It highlighted the importance of providing well-equipped public spaces that allow families to spend enjoyable time and foster stronger community bonds.

Part of a Broader Developmental Effort

The initiative is part of a series of developmental projects being implemented by the department across various cities and areas of the Emirate. These efforts aim to improve the level of services provided to residents and prepare an urban environment that meets community needs and keeps pace with aspirations for a more sustainable future.
