Sharjah24: In alignment with the vision and guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, a remarkable initiative has been announced by the Health Education Department in collaboration with the Sharjah Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs (SDSVA). The "Healthy Suburbs" campaign, which kicked off this June and will continue until August 2024, aims to enrich the lives of suburban residents and enhance their well-being.
This noble endeavour seeks to raise health awareness among individuals and empower them with knowledge about the wide array of programs, services, and activities offered by the department. By fostering a community-driven approach, the campaign aims to inspire residents to adopt sustainable, healthy lifestyles while improving their behaviours and rectifying unhealthy habits, ultimately safeguarding them from potential ailments.
To commence this impactful campaign, the Al Siouh Suburb Council became the first venue to host an array of medical examinations, providing comprehensive health check-ups. Moreover, expert nutritional consultations were made available, offering valuable guidance to women on the benefits of breastfeeding. The event also featured an enlightening educational session and an engaging corner dedicated to promoting health awareness among children. Notably, a health exhibition showcased the valuable contributions of the Health Education Department and its associated health-supporting associations, including the Diabetes Friends Society, Arthritis Patients Friends Society, Kidney Patients Friends Society, and the Breastfeeding Society.
Emphasising the significance of understanding the health needs of suburban residents, Her Excellency Eman Rashid Saeed, Director of Health Promotion Department, highlighted the department's commitment to conducting pre- and post-surveys. This invaluable information will help tailor awareness programs to cater to the unique requirements of all suburbs within the emirate, fostering a healthier and happier community for all.
