Sharjah24: As part of its ongoing efforts to empower orphaned students academically, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) has strengthened its commitment to education through the “Teach with the Pen” programme. The initiative seeks to support the educational journey of orphans across Sharjah and its Central and Eastern regions, recognising education as the foundation for building brighter futures and opening pathways to opportunity.

Comprehensive educational support for over 900 students

In its latest efforts, the Foundation has paid tuition fees for over 900 students enrolled in schools and universities, amounting to nearly AED 6 million. This initiative ensures that students can continue their education in a stable and supportive environment, regardless of their families’ financial circumstances. To improve access to digital learning, 87 students received laptops, enabling them to participate effectively in modern education and enhance their academic performance.

Extensive community collaboration and engagement

The “Teach with the Pen” project has garnered widespread community and institutional support, helping more than 1,800 students connected to the Foundation. This involvement underscores the integration of social and educational efforts aimed at empowering children without parental care. The project embodies SSEF’s humanitarian mission and the community’s shared commitment to supporting the educational journey of every child in its care.

Developing skills through educational and technical programs

To strengthen academic competencies, SSEF launched a series of educational courses, including IELTS training to prepare students for university admission and academic success. An advanced programme in electronic programming was also introduced to enhance technical skills, ensuring students acquire the practical and scientific tools needed for higher education and future career development. These initiatives aim to foster excellence and adaptability in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

Participation in the international education exhibition

The Foundation also took part in the International Education Exhibition at Expo Centre Sharjah from 8 to 11 October, highlighting the key initiatives of the “Teach with the Pen” project. Through its pavilion, SSEF established partnerships with educational and community organisations while increasing awareness of its innovative academic empowerment programmes.

Education as a cornerstone for empowerment

Mona Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Foundation, highlighted that education is the cornerstone of empowering orphaned children. She stated: “Through the ‘Teach with the Pen’ project, we are committed to creating a stable and motivating environment that fosters excellence and ongoing learning.” Al Suwaidi added that the Foundation aims to build strategic partnerships with educational and community institutions to ensure the sustainability and growth of these initiatives, describing investment in children’s education as an investment in the nation’s future.

She concluded: “The educational support provided through the ‘Teach with the Pen’ project reflects the Foundation’s mission to empower children academically and demonstrates our commitment to education as a sustainable development priority. Through our comprehensive programmes, from tuition coverage and device provision to university scholarships and specialised support, we aim to ensure equal educational opportunities for all children under our care.”
