The program mixes lessons on values with opportunities to connect with the community. Children get to visit important cultural and historical sites, such as museums, parks, and community centres. During these visits, they learn about the values that these places represent and become familiar with the rules and customs before they explore.
Every week, the workshops include activities such as storytelling, fun movements, creative projects, and artistic expressions, all aimed at teaching values like honesty, patience, gratitude, compassion, and acceptance of differences. These activities also help the children improve their communication skills, work as a team, and strengthen their sense of identity and responsibility to their country and community.
Additionally, the program is designed to help children feel comfortable and confident in social settings, encouraging them to become positive and impactful members of society. Through a variety of fun activities, the program promotes good morals and values among the children involved.
Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department at SSEF, emphasised the importance of teaching values to children. She said, "We believe that developing a strong and balanced personality starts in childhood. The Athar program is a practical way to instil these values through real-life experiences. This helps shape a generation that can positively interact with society and understand their responsibilities and sense of belonging.”
