Sharjah 24: In a move aimed at enhancing institutional cooperation and developing digital systems, Sharjah Department of Public Works and a global consultancy firm signed a cooperation contract to develop the management and analysis of building assets that the department oversees, amounting to 404 buildings.
The contract was signed during an official ceremony attended by a number of officials and employees from both sides.

Facing maintenance operations challenges
The new system aims to address the challenges facing maintenance operations, such as the difficulty of providing an effective mechanism to follow up on periodic maintenance, track contractors’ performance, and delays in completing financial payments. By applying data analysis techniques, the system provides accurate reports on emergency and recurring faults, and identifies optimal repair methods, which contributes to reducing costs and improving service quality.

Speed and efficiency guaranteed
The system also allows for automatic classification of reports and determining appropriate response times, which enhances the speed and efficiency of completing work. In addition, it provides a comprehensive database of assets, including details of brands, expected life, warranties, and maintenance costs, which supports making accurate decisions about replacing or repairing assets.
In his speech during the ceremony, His Excellency Eng. Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works, stressed that this step reflects the department’s commitment to adopting modern technical solutions to enhance project performance and asset management, noting that cooperation with various entities comes within the framework of supporting institutional integration and developing competencies in various sectors.

Proactive services
Al Suwaidi stressed that implementing this system contributes to providing proactive services to beneficiaries, reducing waiting time for repairs, and ensuring the accuracy of entered information, which enhances the quality of public services and improves the efficiency of maintenance and operational management operations.

This cooperation comes within the efforts to improve the management of government assets and enhance the efficiency of operational processes, as the new system enables the ability to inventory assets, monitor their operational status, and organise maintenance operations automatically and effectively, in a way that achieves sustainability and improves the level of services provided.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the Public Works Department also launched the Project Management System and the Companies Platform, which is an integrated digital platform that aims to improve the process of monitoring projects and developing planning and implementation mechanisms. The system provides interactive dashboards that display project details, including contract values, timelines, and completion rates, which contributes to enhancing operational efficiency and making accurate decisions based on data.

Using AI
It is noteworthy that this step comes within the department’s strategy to enhance digital transformation and achieve excellence in government services, reflecting the vision of the wise leadership towards a sustainable and innovative future through the use of smart analysis and artificial intelligence.
