Sharjah24: Sociological Association in partnership with the University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, represented by the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the College of Science and Humanities, organised the first scientific forum entitled "Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: A Futuristic Vision for Social Work and Its Challenges," in the presence of the University Director, Dr. Ali Abu Al-Nour, college deans, and association board members.
The forum represents the beginning of activating the role of artificial intelligence in advancing social work and emphasises the commitment of all stakeholders to enhancing academic and community cooperation to serve social development.
This forum marks an important step towards integrating technological innovation with social needs, affirming the importance of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of social work and providing new tools to address contemporary challenges.
The forum brought together a select group of academics and professionals in the fields of sociology and social work, providing an opportunity to open a broad scientific dialogue on integrating artificial intelligence in social work fields and promoting innovation in this vital sector.
During the first session of the forum, titled "Artificial Intelligence and Challenges of Its Use in Social Sciences," participants discussed various topics related to artificial intelligence. Dr. Faisal Al-Matalqa presented a research paper on "Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and Society," while Dr. Aisha Al-Taib discussed "The Culture of Using Artificial Intelligence among Social and Humanities Students." Dr. Sayed Abdul Rahman addressed "Sociology of Artificial Intelligence and the Impact of Smart Technology on Social and Human Relationships," with the session chaired by Dr. Mohammed Hamdan bin Jursh Al-Suwaidi, a member of the Social Workers Association Board of Directors and Chairman of the Cultural Committee.
The second scientific session, titled "Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Improving the Quality of Social Work," explored the practical applications of artificial intelligence in this field. Dr. Ramadan Ismail discussed "Innovation and Quality of Social Services," Dr. Asmaa Ahmed covered the topic of "Professional Practice of Social Work in the Digital Transformation Era," and Dr. Hussein Ibrahim Abu Al-Qasim addressed "Using Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Social Work Efficiency," with the session chaired by Dr. Asmaa Al-Darmaki, Secretary of the Social Workers Association.
At the conclusion of the forum, a closing report was presented, including recommendations to enhance the use of technology in social work, along with participants' acknowledgment of the importance of this initiative in bridging academia with society and fostering innovation in the social sciences fields.
