This achievement came at the conclusion of the championship, one of the most prominent tournaments on the International Paralympic Committee's calendar. The event witnessed the participation of elite athletes from around the world, amidst fierce competition and high levels of skill, lending this achievement significant value and confirming the ability of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled to compete and reach the podium at the largest international sporting events.
His Excellency Abdullah Saleh Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled, affirmed that this achievement embodies the fruits of the wise vision and unlimited support provided by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to the sports sector for people with disabilities. He emphasised His Highness's commitment to empowering them and providing a sporting environment that enhances their abilities and opens horizons for excellence and achievement.
His Excellency Abdullah Saleh Al Naqbi said: “We congratulate the club’s champions on this honourable achievement, which adds to the UAE’s record of sporting accomplishments. It reflects the scale of the work and efforts invested in their preparation and training. We also extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Sharjah Sports Council for its continuous support and follow-up, which played a pivotal role in achieving these outstanding results and continuing the journey of success and excellence.”
For his part, Dr Luay Saeed Allay, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, affirmed that the results achieved in the Czech Republic Championship are an extension of an institutional approach based on strategic planning and investment in developing athletes’ capabilities through advanced training and development programmes, and providing the best technical and administrative staff. This enhances the players’ readiness to compete in regional and international championships and represent the UAE in a manner befitting its stature.
Dr Luay Saeed Allay added that the Board of Directors continues to work according to a clear vision aimed at discovering and refining talents, and providing all the resources that enable athletes to achieve further accomplishments in various upcoming events.
Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Hammadi, Head of Delegation and Chairman of the Technical Affairs and Talent Development Committee, explained that the championship witnessed fierce competition against elite track and field athletes from around the world. However, the club's athletes proved their ability to compete thanks to their determination and perseverance, in addition to the comprehensive technical and administrative preparation that preceded their participation.
Abdulaziz Ahmed Al Hammadi said: "The results of the Czech Republic Championship reflect the fruit of continuous institutional work that began with talent discovery, continued through training and technical and physical development programmes, and culminated in preparation for international competitions. This is an important milestone in the club's plan to continue achieving success and enhance the UAE's presence on the podiums of continental and global championships."
This achievement underscores the leading position of Khorfakkan Club for the Disabled as one of the most prominent clubs specialising in sports for people with disabilities in the UAE.
