Sharjah 24: His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department, attended the opening ceremony of the 11th annual student initiative "Business Stars" on Thursday evening. The event, organised by Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation “Ruwad” under the Sharjah Economic Development Department, is part of the 13th Districts Festival held at Al Qarayen Park 4 in Sharjah.
The opening ceremony was attended by Fatima Al Ali, Acting Director of "Ruwad", relevant department managers, event organising committee members, and visitors eager to witness the initiative's launch and explore the project booths' diverse products and services.
This community initiative hosts 40 student entrepreneurial projects with 80 students participating from various schools, universities, and colleges across the UAE. The initiative will run daily from 4 PM to 10 PM for two weeks, from December 12-25, coinciding with the first semester break. The organising committee has allocated December 12-18 for primary and middle school students' projects (ages 10-15), while high school and university students' projects (ages 16-21) will be featured from December 19-25.
In addition to student projects, the initiative will include entertainment group performances and artistic and educational workshops for visitors, in collaboration with elite entrepreneurial projects affiliated with the foundation.
Chairman Al Mahmoud toured the participating student projects, examining the products displayed and listening to the students' innovative ideas aimed at transforming them into initial initiatives and small project models, paving their way into entrepreneurship and free commercial work.
Al Mahmoud praised the creative projects presented by the participating students and their commitment to excellence and leadership through commercial projects that translate their diverse ambitions. He emphasized that the Business Stars initiative is one of the most important unique incubators and successful platforms in creating a stimulating environment for school and university students, providing necessary support to enrich their creative desires and aspirations, and translating their entrepreneurial skills into pioneering projects.
Fatima Al Ali stated that they look forward to organizing a distinguished edition of the initiative, aligning with Ruwad's vision and goals in spreading the culture of entrepreneurship and deepening the concept of private work among students. She added that daily evaluations of participating projects would be conducted by specialized judges, applying assessment criteria including innovation, financial management, marketing, and adherence to specified conditions.
Al Ali also mentioned that participating students underwent a series of introductory and guidance workshops before the initiative to ensure successful participation and enhance opportunities for marketing their products and services optimally. She confirmed that all procedures ensuring safety standards for participants and visitors were considered, as well as the safety of booths and their goods and products.
