Sharjah24: The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has launched an awareness program for school students throughout the 2024/2025 academic year. This program includes a series of events and activities across several public and private schools. It was initiated in early September at 10 public and private schools in the Emirate of Sharjah, benefiting a total of 2,150 students.
Rashed Al Marzouqi, Director of Corporate Communications at the Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority, stated that the authority continues its efforts to educate students about proper conservation behaviors and the optimal use of energy and water. The program aims to enhance their participation in environmental protection issues and instill a culture of energy and water conservation, recognizing them as the future generations upon whom the community relies for continued progress and prosperity.
He noted that the authority is preparing specialized programs tailored to this age group, designed to provide them with new skills in an environment that combines fun and benefit, fostering a spirit of competition to adopt best practices.
Saif Al Naqbi, Head of the Education and Awareness Department, emphasized that the student awareness program targets school and nursery students in the Emirate of Sharjah. It includes interactive lectures, distribution of brochures and posters to students, and competitions focused on electricity and water conservation. The program highlights the amounts of consumption that can be saved by installing energy- and water-efficient devices at home, using engaging and simplified methods to attract students of all educational levels to participate in conservation activities and benefit from the lessons and information provided on the best ways to conserve electricity and use it safely, as well as methods for conserving water and the benefits of installing efficient fixtures and tools.
