3,000 students from various educational levels in 13 private and public schools and nurseries in the Emirate of Sharjah benefited from the programme.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Media and Communication Department at SEWA, explained that the programme achieved its objectives in supporting sustainability efforts in the Emirate of Sharjah, achieving environmental goals, contributing to the preservation of natural resources, and reducing the carbon footprint.
Al Marzouqi pointed out that the Authority seeks, through a number of initiatives and programmes organised throughout the year and targeting all segments of society, to raise awareness of the importance of conserving electricity and water, consolidate a positive image of the Authority, raise community awareness of its vital role, and enhance its position as a leading and responsible institution that effectively contributes to achieving sustainable development and quality of life in the Emirate of Sharjah.
Saif Al Naqbi, Head of the Education and Awareness Department, emphasised that the programme saw great interaction from male and female students who were keen to benefit from the programme’s activities and events, which included field visits to schools, the participation of cartoon characters, the distribution of a range of educational and interactive gifts that encourage rationalisation methods, and a variety of activities and events held in schools, in addition to awareness campaigns through the media and social media platforms.
These activities included interactive workshops to teach students how to save energy and water at home and school, competitions and prizes to encourage students to actively participate in rationalisation initiatives, and practical advice through the provision of easy-to-apply guidelines on how to achieve efficiency in the use of electrical appliances and conserve water.
