Sharjah24: The inaugural Regional Data and Community Development Forum (RDCDF), organised by the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) on October 9-10, will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can revolutionise data analysis, enabling more informed decision-making and enhancing service delivery.
The event, held at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre in Sharjah, will bring together prominent government officials, international experts, and specialists to lead a comprehensive agenda structured around six pillars, including technology and AI. Speakers will deliberate the challenges of digital transformation for governments, data privacy in the age of AI, and the future of statistical work in light of rapid technological advancements.

Themed ‘Driving Change,’ the forum will feature more than 60 activities, including 18 inspiring talks and speeches, 20 panel discussions, 24 specialized workshops, and a dedicated exhibition hosting more than 10 entities showcasing the latest technologies and innovative solutions in data utilization.

Statistical Offices in the AI Era: Evolution or Extinction?
The main session, ‘Statistical Offices in the AI Era: Evolution or Extinction?’ in ‘Futuristic Data’ Stage, will explore the future of traditional statistical offices as they face the transformative wave of AI. Experts will offer insights into the crucial intersection of data and AI, emphasizing the role of data in driving AI development. The session will also highlight how partnerships between data owners and technology providers are essential for fostering AI-driven solutions and creating shared data platforms. Moreover, it will underscore the critical role of statistical offices in supporting government decision-making during this rapid phase of AI advancements.

Is Your Data Secure?
On the second day, the forum will address future challenges related to data privacy in the digital age through the session ‘Is Your Data Secure?’. This session will explore the legal and ethical frameworks governing the collection and use of personal data, and experts will discuss how individuals can protect their data from breaches. The discussion will also cover the roles of governments and companies in safeguarding data privacy, highlighting new legislative measures impacting the industry, and the role of AI and cybersecurity in data protection.

Data Partners in the Digital Transformation of Governments
Meanwhile, the session, ‘Data Partners in the Digital Transformation of Governments’ at the ‘Transformative Data’ stage, will focus on how governments, the private sector, and civil society can collaborate to harness data for sustainable development and community well-being. Speakers will showcase global best practices in data management and analysis, and how data can be leveraged in government digital transformation. The session will also highlight the role of AI and machine learning in advancing smart governance and improving decision-making processes.
