Sharjah24: The "Future Engineer" summer training program, conducted by the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey, recently wrapped up after a two-week run at its Sharjah headquarters, with the participation of 25 students. The main goal of the program was to introduce high school students to the world of engineering and inspire them to consider careers in this field. It also aimed to highlight the importance of engineering in creating sustainable cities and to support the development of young talent for the future workforce.
Over the course of two weeks, 19 teachers from 5 different technical departments took part in the daily activities. These departments were the Survey Department, Geographic Information Systems Department, Planning Studies Department, Building Permits Department, and Public Services Department.

The departments mentioned earlier offered over 30 basic and hands-on workshops in various fields and specialties within the department. Some important topics covered include map reading, training on surveying tools, understanding the responsibilities of surveying stations in different cities, aerial photography, requirements for initial home designs, regulations for building in residential areas, and the concept of community services and their planning standards. Participants also learned about the work nature in different specialized departments within the organization.
