SDTPS: launches “Aesthetic Neighbourhoods”

Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS) has launched the "Aesthetic Neighbourhoods" initiative, a community awareness program organised in collaboration with the Sharjah Districts Affairs Department and local suburb councils in Sharjah City as a first phase. The initiative aims to enhance the urban landscape and improve the aesthetic appearance of residential areas as part of a comprehensive vision to elevate the city’s image and enhance quality of life.

Promoting community awareness

The initiative focuses on raising community awareness of their role in maintaining urban aesthetics, addressing visual distortions in residential units, and guiding property owners, developers, and consultants to adopt designs aligned with aesthetic and environmental standards. This approach contributes to building a sustainable urban environment.

Enhancing the visual and aesthetic aspects

Engineer Hamad Juma Al Shamsi, Executive Council Member and Chairman of SDTPS, stated that the initiative reflects the department’s focus on enhancing the visual and aesthetic aspects of neighbourhoods. He emphasised that the program seeks to raise public awareness of urban appearances and encourage all segments of society to actively participate in improving the overall beauty of residential areas.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Director of the Urban Appearance Department, explained that the initiative seeks to make a tangible impact on improving the overall urban landscape by reducing visual distortions, strengthening partnerships between government entities and the private sector, and promoting an aesthetic culture that highlights the city’s development and architectural harmony.
