Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey (SDTPS) organised an introductory workshop titled “Villa Diwani... A Story of Creativity” presented by the Emirati designer Hisham Al-Mazloum, owner of the villa that won the first prize in the “Best Architectural Design - Best Residential Building” competition, which was launched by the Building Permits Department for the categories of consulting offices, university students and graduates from the College of Architecture at the University of Sharjah.
This award is considered the third award for “Villa Diwani” at the local and international levels, due to the building’s distinctive contemporary architectural design by its owner, the Emirati designer Hisham Al Mazloum, who combined his idea of the art of Arabic calligraphy with modern construction methods, in addition to the fact that the building contains, within its interior design, rare artistic collectibles from Arabic calligraphy by the most famous calligraphers and pioneering artists in the world.
The workshop included the honouring of Emirati designer Hisham Al Mazloum by Engineer Hamidi Al Ketbi, Director of the Building Permits Department, in appreciation of his excellence and creativity in blending Arabic calligraphy with modern architectural arts and his efforts to preserve the authentic architectural heritage.
