Sharjah24: The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation carried out the "Eid Sweets" and "Eidiya" initiative alongside the upcoming Eid al-Adha, with the goal of bringing happiness to the orphan families associated with the foundation in Sharjah, as well as the central and eastern areas. A total of 517 orphans from 200 families benefited from the project, with 333 orphans expressing joy upon receiving Eidiya.
Coordination was made in the previous months with three mothers of orphans and one young lady, to contribute to the project by making various sweets for the orphan families. Additionally, coordination was made with 10 female volunteers who completed the packing of the sweets boxes and contributed to delivering them to the families.
Nawal Al Hammadi, the Manager of Social Prosperity Management, stated: "The 'Eid Sweets' and 'Eidiya' project carries the essence of happiness and joy to the orphan families. It's a beautiful tradition in our society and an essential part of Eid celebrations. The project supported women entrepreneurs in the field of sweets preparation among the mothers of orphans affiliated with the foundation, enhancing their economic and professional empowerment. In previous years, we relied on external suppliers to provide sweets, but this year we decided to expand the circle of benefit to include producing families affiliated with us as the main suppliers, thus realizing areas of benefit and empowerment."
She continued: "The foundation set clear criteria for selecting the families to participate in making Eid sweets, and a testing and monitoring committee was formed to achieve the goal in the best way possible. Qualification courses in entrepreneurial innovation were also provided by the foundation previously, and we adopted criteria that included important elements for the quality selection of suitable products, such as the requirement for experience and skill in production, and the emphasis on safety requirements and commitment to cleanliness during preparation. We also tested samples of sweets to ensure readiness."
She added: "A list of recipient families was compiled, targeting newly registered families to create initial opportunities to connect with them, given that they are under the care and attention of the foundation. Also, families facing specific psychological or social conditions are also of special concern, and communication with them is deepened to strengthen the bond between us."
She concluded: "The foundation's projects reflect social cohesion in such seasons, and we at the foundation attach great importance to creating opportunities that increase these bonds, and the impact is clear on the psychology of orphans and their feelings of joy and happiness."
Furthermore, the foundation adopts feasible and constructive programs to ensure the provision of a supportive environment and cohesive orphan families, harnessing entrepreneurial projects to provide comprehensive care and ensure a dignified and prosperous life for them.
