Sharjah 24: Based on nurturing excellence and making it a prevailing culture among all employees, Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW) launched the seventh edition of the “Ertaqi” (Rise Up) Award.
The Award targets all SDPW employees, within the framework of its keenness to adopt excellence and motivate employees to innovate and create, as it falls within its strategic plan, and in line with its tireless efforts in applying best practices in the field of institutional work, and promoting a culture of excellence, in line with the aspirations of Sharjah government aimed at achieving and following the highest professional standards and practices.
Engineer Hind Nasser indicated that this year Award is divided into 8 categories, and carries many positive goals and values that SDPW is keen to spread among employees, including encouraging initiative and innovation in all administrative work, and encouraging competition and excellence among employees within the department, spreading and emphasising the culture of quality and development, and contributing to providing an appropriate work environment that helps in continuous development and improvement, and many other goals.
Engineer Hind Nasser added that SDPW seeks to adopt a policy of motivating and urging employees to compete more to develop and improve performance of individuals, and increase productivity for the benefit of themselves and the department.
Engineer Hind Nasser said that the Award comes as a practical translation and realistic application of SDPW strategy aimed at establishing a culture of excellence and applying the highest quality standards in performance, in light of the implementation of the directives of the wise leadership, and the great support and constant follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness the Crown Prince. Secretary.
The Director of the Strategic Planning and Quality Centre confirmed that the Award seeks to appreciate competencies, honour employees with achievements, and spread the culture of excellence among employees. Engineer Hind Nasser called on all employees to enter the race for excellence in the current edition to preserve the cultural achievements and gains that the department has made over the past decades.
SDPW was keen to launch “Ertaqi” Award to be a real addition and support for the hardworking, an appreciation for the distinguished, a moral and material incentive for the innovators, and an encouragement of competition, cooperation and positivity among employees to provide the best services to the customer, in addition to promoting initiatives that infuse positive energy among the department’s employees towards greater achievement and success.
Among the most prominent categories of the award are the distinguished employee in the supervisory field, which is for first- and second-line leaders in the department; the distinguished employee in the administrative field; and the distinguished employee in the technical field raising the level of urban and engineering projects; in addition to the best new distinguished employee category; the distinguished employee in the field of customer happiness; and the category distinguished secretarial service.
Issa Sharar, Head of the Quality and Excellence Department, said that SDPW set a number of special standards this year for the “Ertaqi for Individual Categories”, which were restricted to the department’s employees, most notably achievement, influence, learning and development, innovation, positive citizenship, and leadership spirit. For the categories of work teams and organisational units, most prominent standards are readiness for the future, strategic direction, competitiveness, interconnected proactive services, smart empowerment, resources and property, partnership, integration, and government communication.
It is noteworthy that the seventh edition of Ertaqi Award aims to achieve the highest levels of institutional excellence, whereas SDPW has achieved tangible results and impact by increasing the number of participants in the competition, increasing the productivity of employees, and working on documentation of all their work.
