Sharjah24: Every Monday, Sharjah Radio airs a live episode of the programme "Amman Ya Biladi" (Be safe, my nation), which is produced by the Media and Public Relations Department of the Sharjah Police.
In this episode, Major Ibrahim Al Madafa and Captain Manaa Al Naqbi interviewed Colonel Salem Sultan Bu Haroun, Head of Sharjah's Ports and Airports Management's Drug Control Department, and Captain Walid Ismail Al Zarouni, Head of the Drug Control Department's Awareness and Aftercare Branch.
Colonel Salem Sultan Buharoun addressed the drug problem and its effects on society, stressing the most important preventative strategies employed to date.
Captain Walid Ismail Al Zarouni discussed the Drug Control Department's efforts to reduce the availability of illegal drugs and other psychoactive substances through yearly awareness and security programmes that are coordinated with a wide range of stakeholders. He stressed the need for communities to take responsibility and work with law enforcement to quickly detect and report any suspicious behaviour.
