Sharjah 24: The Criminal Investigation Department of Sharjah Police (SP) has arrested several Asian nationals involved in a fight that broke out in an area of the emirate, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to another of the same nationality. The incident stemmed from a dispute that began on a social media platform before escalating into an assault involving a bladed weapon.

According to police, the Operations Room received a report of a fight involving several individuals outside a shopping centre in Sharjah City. The altercation left two people with stab wounds inflicted by a sharp object.

Specialised teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, while National Ambulance crews transferred the injured individuals to hospital for treatment. One of the victims later succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the dispute originated on a social media platform before escalating from an online exchange into a face-to-face confrontation involving several parties. The situation subsequently developed into a violent altercation during which one of the suspects used a bladed weapon.

Police teams launched search and investigation operations immediately after receiving the report and succeeded in identifying and apprehending the suspects within four hours of the incident. The necessary legal measures have since been taken against them.

SP stressed that disputes arising on social media platforms should be addressed through legal channels and warned against engaging in aggressive behaviour or responding to calls for confrontation. The force reaffirmed that the law will be enforced firmly against anyone who threatens community security or endangers the safety of others.

The police also urged members of the public to act responsibly when using digital platforms and to report any negative practices that incite violence or disrupt public order by calling 901, in order to safeguard the security and safety of the community.
