The programme’s guests discussed all types of cybercrimes, which target individuals, institutions, and banking systems. Criminals hack personal data and information using links, text messages, and phone calls, such as phone calls that claim they represent a bank or service company.
Captain Al Nuaimi called on members of the public to be vigilant and wary of any anonymous communication, or suspicious messages and links that require providing their personal data, in order to avoid falling victim to electronic fraud. Captain Al Nuaimi stressed the necessity to cooperate with the security services by immediately reporting any fraud attempts.
Through a call intervention, during which First Lieutenant Manea Muhammad Khalfan Al Naqbi, Director of the Security Awareness Campaigns Branch at the Media and Public Relations Department, spoke about the campaign launched by Sharjah Police, in early May, to raise awareness on fraud through social media ads, using fake promotions for goods and services, luring individuals with big discounts.
First Lieutenant Manea Al Naqbi added that the campaign received a great interaction from public members, which confirms that educational messages have reached all segments of society, calling for not disclosing the personal verification number (OTP) to any person or entity, and immediately report to (8002626) in case of doubt or fraud.
