Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal, Director-General of the General Department of Operations and Security Support, affirmed that the success of the plan was the result of early preparations and comprehensive coordination, alongside the strategic deployment of human and technical resources and the heightened readiness of specialist and field teams around the clock. This enabled efficient handling of reports, incidents and enquiries in accordance with the highest standards of quality and promptness.
He explained that the security and traffic plan was based on proactive studies and analyses of traffic movement, as well as forecasts of traffic density at key locations that witness increased visitor numbers during holiday periods, including mosques, shopping centres, tourist attractions and recreational areas. This contributed to strengthening the security and traffic presence and achieving advanced levels of safety and traffic flow throughout the emirate.
He highlighted the outstanding performance recorded by the Operations Centre during the Eid holiday, noting that 61,509 calls were handled through the 999 emergency number, while the 901 number received 8,432 calls related to customer services and general enquiries. This reflects the high level of readiness of police personnel and the efficiency of operational systems in providing support and response services around the clock.
The Sharjah Police commended the cooperation of community members and their adherence to security and traffic instructions and guidelines during the holiday. It emphasised that this cooperation played an effective role in supporting security efforts, reinforcing community security, and enhancing levels of safety and stability across the emirate.
Sharjah Police also renewed its call on the public to contact the Operations Centre on 999 for emergencies and 901 for enquiries and non-emergency services.
