Sharjah 24: The Breastfeeding Friends, affiliated with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, honoured a number of breastfeeding mothers who have stood against all challenges and continued breastfeeding, and mothers who breastfed children other than their own children of all nationalities, in recognition of their role in providing children with healthy nutrition and care.
The honouring is also in line with the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah and the rest of the emirates of the UAE in promoting a healthy lifestyle, and consolidating its position as an ideal healthy environment for mother and child.
This came during a ceremony organised by The Breastfeeding Friends in conjunction with International Mother's Day, in the presence of Iman Rashid, Director of the Health Promotion Department, members of the board of directors, employees of The Breastfeeding Friends, a number of volunteers, honored mothers and their children, representatives of the sponsors and supporters of the association, in addition to media representatives.
Eng. Khawla Abdulaziz Al Noman, Head of the Breastfeeding Friends confirmed that the organisation of this ceremony comes with the aim of supporting mothers to assume responsibility before their families and their society and to enable them to build a generation that enjoys health and wellness and contributes to the upgrading of the foundations of society in all fields, pursuant to the wise directives of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Cahirperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah for the need to improve the physical and psychological health of children and mothers by increasing breastfeeding rates, which is the best way to form a healthy family relationship to reach a healthy and safe community whose members enjoy health and wellness.
