Sharjah24: The Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, FOAP, of the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) has discussed ways to enhance work mechanisms with the aim of raising the level of health awareness among community members about arthritis diseases, ensuring the sustainability of effective communication with rheumatic patients, providing them with the highest levels of support, and promoting their general health, especially in light of the current health conditions.
This came during the first general meeting of the FOAP, which was held recently under the chairmanship of Waheeda Abdul Aziz, Head of the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, and in the presence of a representative from the Ministry of Community Development and members of the FOAP’s board of directors. The meeting included a brief presentation of the Society 's most important achievements, in addition to discussing the main directions of its work plans, the most important awareness events and health initiatives to be organised during the coming period.

Commenting on this, Waheeda Abdul Aziz indicated that this meeting comes within the framework of the FOAP’s keenness to unify and coordinate efforts towards launching innovative initiatives and programs that aim to raise the level of health awareness for members of society about the symptoms, causes and prevention methods of arthritis, and to provide all forms of support to patients, alleviating their suffering, in order to achieve the vision of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, to promote health awareness among members of society and improve healthy behaviours and habits, contributing to the prevention of diseases and limiting their spread.

She explained that the meeting formed an important platform for exchanging views and putting forward many proposals related to the development of work mechanisms in a way that contributes to enhancing the performance of the FOAP and enabling it to achieve its strategic goals.

The Friends of Arthritis Patients Society also held another meeting of its board of directors, during which the members of the new board of directors were elected. His Excellency Waheeda Abdel Aziz was elected as the president of the Society, Dr. Suad Hanawi for the position of vice president, Samira Ismail Al-Qassab for the position of secretary, and Sumaya Abdullah was elected for the cashier position.

The Friends of Arthritis Patients Society, which was founded in 2009, aims to spread health awareness among segments of society about joint diseases, symptoms and methods of treatment.
