He said there are two types of diabetes patients, the 2nd type and those who do not take insulin needles, which can fast during Ramadan after consulting their specialist doctor, provided that their diet is regular and balanced.
Dr. Adil added that for patients with type 1 diabetes who take insulin or type 2 patients, It’s not generally advised for these 2 types to fast during Ramadan, unless they made up their minds and decided to fast, they may have to consult their doctors and must be very cautious regarding of food and diet issues.
He pointed out that when diabetic patients fast and feel excessive sweating, changes in mood and heartbeats, it is necessary to break the fast because low sugar has severe consequences to health and can lead to death.
