Packing bags for other children
Rather than leaving the work to adults, organisers handed the task to the employees' own children. Kids packed the bags themselves, an experience meant to plant early habits of participation and let them feel, first-hand, that they had a hand in giving another child a hopeful, joyful start to the school year.
Staff played their part too, donating new notebooks, pens, colouring sets, pencil cases and assorted stationery for the bags.
A culture of volunteering
Amal Al Ali, Head of the Public Relations Section at the Corporate Contact Centre, said the initiative forms part of the department's wider push to strengthen community work and instil a culture of volunteering in younger generations through activities that combine simplicity with real human impact.
The Sharjah Department of Public Works continues to roll out initiatives of this kind, reflecting its commitment to community support and human connection, and keeping giving a value practised by small hands before large ones, one that brings warmth and a fresh start to children who need it.
Children thank Sharjah's Ruler
The children who took part said they were happy to help pack bags for classmates who cannot afford everything they need for school. They extended their thanks to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who they said has taught them that giving is the most beautiful thing a person can offer and that goodness begins in the hearts of children who can bring a smile to someone's face and become the reason for another's happiness.
In total, 100 school bags were prepared, with 17 children taking part in a volunteering effort
