Sharjah 24: Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Public Works (SDPW), received a high-level delegation from Sharjah Police Academy, on Monday, led by Major General Dr Mohammed Khamis Al Othmani, Director-General of the Academy. The visit forms part of ongoing efforts between the two sides to support projects serving the academy and the police sector in Sharjah.

Al Othmani was accompanied by Brigadier General Dr Mohammed Al Shehhi, Director of the Support Services Department, and Colonel Hamad Mohammed Al Kai, Head of the Human Resources Section.

Raising readiness of police facilities

The meeting reaffirmed both sides' commitment to unifying their efforts and refining shared working mechanisms, with the aim of raising the readiness of police facilities and providing an integrated training and educational environment that meets the needs of police personnel. Officials said the cooperation is designed to keep pace with the continuous development taking place across Sharjah's security sector.

Discussions covered ways to strengthen the institutional partnership and develop communication channels between specialist teams, supporting the execution of academy-linked projects and improving how they are followed up and supervised. The two sides also reviewed a number of projects SDPW has completed for the Academy in recent years, along with the requirements of the next phase, stressing the importance of early coordination on upcoming development works and new projects to ensure they meet approved technical standards and timelines.

The academy praises SDPW's role

Al Othmani highlighted the significance of the Academy's cooperation with SDPW, praising the teams behind projects that have supported the institution and helped raise the readiness of its facilities and its training and educational environment. He said the Academy places considerable importance on developing its facilities and programmes and that the partnership with SDPW is a cornerstone in achieving that goal, ultimately supporting the police sector and improving the quality of security training in the emirate.

SDPW reaffirms commitment to support

For his part, Al Suwaidi confirmed SDPW's commitment to continuing its cooperation with the Academy and supporting projects that fall within its remit. He said early coordination and role integration between government entities are central to raising the efficiency of project delivery, speeding up completion and making the best use of police facilities. He added that SDPW works through an integrated system of planning, implementation and follow-up, prioritising work linked to the readiness of police facilities and the Academy's needs.

Academy honours SDPW teams

The visit concluded with the Academy delegation honouring SDPW's departments and teams in recognition of their contribution to projects serving the Academy and the police sector — a gesture officials said reflects the spirit of partnership between government entities in Sharjah. Both sides confirmed that coordination and follow-up will continue in the coming period, alongside further development of joint working mechanisms to speed up delivery and improve the efficiency of projects supporting Sharjah's police sector.
