A fruitful dialogue session for the sports system in Sharjah

The session discussed the strategic plan and sought the opinions and ideas of sports clubs regarding future initiatives and projects. It was attended by His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Council, members of the Board of Directors, chairmen and members of club boards, department directors, and heads of Council divisions.

Themes explored during the session

During approximately three hours, participants examined key themes such as development and governance, reputation management, leadership development, community sports, sustainability, the sports economy, and future-focused innovation. The discussions addressed legislation, oversight, financial and administrative management, health, risk, safety standards, corporate identity, excellence, Emiratisation, volunteering, social responsibility, environmental stewardship, infrastructure, investment, sports tourism, artificial intelligence, and the creative skills necessary for the future.

Outcomes and shared vision

His Excellency Issa Hilal Al Hazami expressed satisfaction with the level of interaction among attendees and noted that the outcomes will strengthen the Council's efforts toward achieving its strategic objectives. He emphasised collaboration, coherence, and shared understanding in pursuing these goals. He highlighted that Sharjah benefits from strong sports infrastructure, thanks to the support and attention of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, which must now be carefully invested in and preserved using sustainable standards and continuous innovation.

The role of strategic dialogue

Dr Abdullah bin Sultan, Board Member and Head of the Strategic Dialogue Working Group, described the session as a vital channel of communication between the Sports Council and sports institutions. He said it helped unify visions and concepts, contributed to formulating policies and strategies for both immediate and long-term goals, and provided an opportunity to review club plans to enhance performance and quality of life. He also pointed out that sporting values and professionalism are being reinforced through training programmes for coaches, administrators, and athletes. The session concluded with plans to form specialized committees to develop the sports system in line with the themes discussed.
