Sharjah Police organises Int'l Day Against Drug Abuse Forum

Sharjah 24: Brigadier General Majid Sultan Al Asm, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Sharjah Police, explained that under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, the Sharjah Police General Command organised the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse Forum on Monday morning, under the theme “An Aware Family, A Safe Society.” The forum included a panel discussion with the participation of several partners, during which they highlighted their efforts and roles in supporting campaigns aimed at combating the scourge of drugs.

Significant Results in 2024

Brigadier General Majid Sultan Al Asm, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department at Sharjah Police, confirmed that the department’s efforts in 2024 resulted in the seizure of 373 drug-related cases and the arrest of 680 suspects who were referred to the judiciary. Additionally, 1,240 kilograms of narcotic substances were confiscated, with an estimated market value of around AED 279 million. Furthermore, 680 websites promoting drugs were blocked.

Shared Responsibility in Drug Prevention

Al Asm stressed that combating drugs is not solely the responsibility of security agencies, but also involves families and parents as the first line of defense in protecting their children. He emphasised the importance of dialogue and emotional support in building a safe future for youth.
