Sharjah 24: On the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, when the world unites to face a scourge that threatens societies and targets youth, we reaffirm that our battle against drugs goes beyond a security challenge. It is a battle of awareness, of values, and one that involves the entire community, said His Excellency Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police.

Role of families and society

He added: “This day is a call to strengthen the spirit of integration and shared responsibility to combat and reduce this scourge. It begins at the family level by raising awareness about the dangers and destructive impact of drugs on children. Building a protective wall around our youth requires joint efforts from both institutions and families. Together, we can foster awareness and responsibility, achieving a secure society that protects the nation's future.”

A national duty

Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer continued: “Our duty to protect society from the threat of drugs is not optional—it is a national obligation. Guided by this principle, the Sharjah Police General Command continues to advance toward an integrated national strategy, aligning with the United Arab Emirates’ visionary model—a global example in the fight against drugs.”

Collective responsibility

He concluded: We are committed and equipped to deploy both our security personnel and advanced technologies to combat foreign threats like drugs. My message to our youth and families is clear: "You are partners in combating this scourge. The responsibility is shared. Let us all be police."
