Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Alai, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, highlighted that not following lane rules is one of the main causes of traffic accidents. This behaviour is very dangerous, especially on high-speed roads where limits can reach 120 km/h, making sudden lane changes a serious threat to other drivers.
Colonel Abdullah Alai confirmed that, thankfully, no one was injured in the accident. However, he stressed that leaving the scene of an accident is a crime and shows a serious lack of concern for others’ safety and responsibility.
He explained that leaving the scene of an accident is a serious traffic violation under UAE Federal Traffic Law. This can lead to up to one year in jail or a fine between AED 50,000 and AED 100,000, or both. He encouraged all drivers to follow traffic rules, stay in their lanes, and use signals when changing lanes to keep the roads safe and maintain order.
