Sharjah24: The Department of Public Works in Sharjah has successfully renewed its ISO 20000 certification for IT service management and ISO 27001 certification for information security management, after passing a series of audits conducted by an accredited international certification body. The department confirmed that this achievement reflects its ongoing commitment to providing world-class services, ensuring security and transparency in the management of data and information.
ISO certifications and their significance

ISO 20000 is an international standard for IT service management, and this certification confirms the efficiency of the systems used in delivering technical services while ensuring they meet customer needs and adhere to the highest international standards. ISO 27001, on the other hand, is one of the leading international standards in the field of information security management. The aim of obtaining this certification is to protect sensitive data from security threats and ensure business continuity through the adoption of strict policies and procedures for managing security risks.

Thorough audit process and continued commitment to excellence

The Department of Public Works underwent a rigorous audit by a team of international experts, focusing on key areas such as the efficiency of technical and organisational processes, the implementation of innovative systems that ensure the continuous delivery of services at the highest quality standards, and the department’s compliance with security standards to protect data from cyber threats.

A commitment to sustainability and digital transformation

Engineer Maryam Taqi, Director of the Information Technology Centre, commented: "The renewal of these certifications is proof of our unwavering commitment to enhancing institutional performance and achieving excellence in service delivery. At the department, we are keen to foster the trust of our partners and clients by adopting global best practices in quality and information security."

She highlighted that the renewal of these ISO certifications is not a temporary achievement, but part of a sustainable strategy aimed at improving both internal and external operations, developing technological capabilities in line with digital transformation, enhancing information security, and raising employee awareness of cybersecurity risks.

A key milestone in a broader strategy for excellence

These certifications are two of six ISO certifications that the department has previously obtained. It also holds ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 10004 (Customer Satisfaction Monitoring and Measurement), ISO 10002 (Customer Complaints), ISO 10001 (Customer Charter), and NCEMA Certification.

The Department of Public Works has been adopting a comprehensive strategy for years to elevate the level of its services and keep pace with rapid technological advancements, positioning itself as a leading institution in the application of quality and security standards both locally and internationally.
