Sharjah 24: The "Gulf Bridges – the Gulf Youth Leadership Programme", organised by Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, both affiliated with the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, concluded its first edition, under the generous patronage of its Chairperson, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, with the participation of 40 young men and women from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Participants visited the wheat farm in the Mleiha area, in an exceptional tour that came from the organisers' keenness to provide the opportunity for participants to learn about the most prominent development projects in the Emirate of Sharjah, reflecting its vision in achieving a food security system and supporting sustainable agriculture.
During the visit, the participants learned about the most important challenges facing food security projects in the Emirate of Sharjah and how to overcome them, in an inspiring conversation with His Excellency Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, CEO of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Corporation (EKTIFA), who welcomed Gulf youth participating in the programme, stressing that adopting a positive spirit and benefiting from challenges is the key to success and the way to achieve goals.
Dr. Al Tunaiji reviewed Sharjah's research experience in the wheat hybridisation programme, which is the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates through the biotechnology laboratories of the wheat farm in Mleiha, noting that the Sharjah Food Security System has adopted a proactive approach in employing artificial intelligence solutions in its projects; to crown its efforts with the future readiness indicator through the application of sustainable agricultural practices.
His Excellency added that Mleiha Dairy Farm, which produces organic Mleiha milk, in addition to a different model for the "Fly" broiler farms that depend on free breeding, stressing that Sharjah is rich in a natural environment and natural resources.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Yasi, Director of Sharjah Youth Foundation, and Ms. Sheikha Al Shamsi, Director of the Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, honoured the entities supporting the Gulf Bridges Programme in its first edition, represented by the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, Sharjah Police General Command (SPGC) and Sharjah Airport, in addition to the heads and members of the delegations participating in the programme.
The programme included a number of field visits and interactive workshops, which contributed to providing a rich experience for the participants.
Dr. Hanaa Namankani, Assistant Professor and Self-Development Trainer, presented a specialised workshop entitled "The Journey of Self-Awareness", with the aim of in-depth exploration of aspects of personality, where participants learned about the concept of self-awareness, how to explore strengths and weaknesses, in addition to the dimensions of self-awareness that include behavioural, emotional and cognitive dimensions.
The workshop also addressed developing self-awareness skills, how to manage feelings and emotions effectively to achieve psychological and social balance, in addition to social communication skills to build positive relationships, how to plan strategically for the future, and its importance in making informed decisions that contribute to building an integrated and balanced life, through a group of interactive activities that contributed to consolidating information.
Participants attended another creative workshop held in the natural setting of Sharjah Safari, titled "Personal Skills and Team Building", presented by trainer Ashwaq Ahmed Bouali, Leadership, Motivation and Capabilities Unlocking Consultant, who discussed the most important personal skills and how an individual can discover them. The workshop included effective communication skills, time management, leadership, creative problem solving, critical thinking and emotional intelligence. The trainer reviewed a number of real success stories of applying these skills and employing them in the right way to achieve personal and professional success.
It is worth noting that the Gulf Bridges Programme aims to provide an appropriate environment for preparing young leaders, within a framework that reflects the visions and aspirations of the governments of the GCC countries, which contributes to enabling them to participate in building a sustainable future for the Gulf countries, and embodies the pioneering role of the Rubu' Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators in qualifying young people, building their integrated personalities and preparing them to assume responsibility for their future roles.
