The department’s effort aligns with the its mission to spread Islamic values within families and encourage a culture of tolerance and dialogue, contributing to the creation of a balanced and cohesive society rooted in respect, mercy, and affection.
His Excellency Abdullah Khalifa Al-Sabousi, Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs, emphasised that the family is the cornerstone of societal development and advancement. Preserving family stability is vital for the progress of any nation, as it is from the family that creativity and development arise. He highlighted the dangers posed by foreign media content on social networks that contradict Islamic values, societal traditions, and family unity. Such content, he noted, often distorts reality, fuels discord within families, and contributes to their disintegration. To counter these threats, the department focuses on enhancing family stability through mosque lessons, Friday sermons, and family reconciliation sessions, in collaboration with the Sharjah Family Court.
Al-Sabousi commended the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs. Their support in safeguarding the family from disintegration is seen through the enactment of necessary laws and legislation, alongside His Highness's wise directives to uphold Islamic values and the principles of true religion.
The Sharjah Department of Islamic Affairs places significant emphasis on family reconciliation by offering legal and family consultations to visitors. The department works in continuous cooperation with the Sharjah Family Court to handle family cases through its legal advisors, striving to resolve conflicts in a manner that protects the interests of all parties. This approach aims to bring spouses together, fostering understanding and providing practical solutions rooted in Islamic principles.
Al-Sabousi stressed that early intervention and coordination with judicial authorities are essential in addressing marital disputes before they escalate. This proactive approach helps prevent divorce and supports the rebuilding of family relationships on strong foundations. Additionally, Friday sermons and mosque lessons play a crucial role in raising family awareness and disseminating impactful messages to a wide audience of worshipers. Mosques are important centers for guidance and counseling in society, and the department organizes various religious lessons and lectures to educate families about the significance of Islamic values in building stable, loving, and merciful households. These initiatives encourage dialogue, understanding, and the application of Islamic teachings in daily family life.
