Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Council organised the inaugural Nahwa Sports Festival in collaboration with the local community, featuring participation from sports clubs, organisations, and various government entities.
The event featured notable attendees, including His Excellency Counselor Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, Advisor at the Office of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Abdul Malik Jani, vice-chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Abdullah Khalfan Al Naqbi, Wali of Nahwa, Mohammed Khamis Al Naqbi, Deputy Wali of Shis; Mohammed Abdullah Al Murr, Chairman of the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan, Abdullah Suleiman Al Kabouri, Director of the District Affairs Department, Salem Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Khorfakkan Sports and Cultural Club, and Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events Department, and a number of guests.
The celebration featured an array of sports, recreational activities, competitions, and entertaining segments, including tug-of-war, football, laser shooting games, and numerous activities for children. A showcase football match also took place, garnering significant engagement from the guests, along with other activities such as table tennis, children's drawing, and traditional performances on stage by children that received acclaim.
The event showcased an impressive heritage-themed artistic display. The event concluded with the recognition of all individuals, sponsors, and supporting entities that contributed to its success.
Abdul Malik Jani delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the residents of the Nahwa area for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation in the festival's inaugural edition.
He commended the event for its exceptional presentation, showcasing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, emphasised their commitment to community initiatives and the organisation of events that enhance social connections.
Jani also conveyed his greetings to all attendees, particularly Counsellor Khamis bin Salem, Abdullah Al Naqbi, and Mohammed Khamis for gracing the event with their presence.
