The programme includes interactive sessions and practical activities where young participants take part in field experiences under the supervision of IEEE SIGHT volunteers from the American University of Sharjah. These sessions combine visual presentations, interactive discussions, and scientific information presented in both English and Arabic. The workshops also feature activities and small projects aimed at stimulating critical thinking and fostering teamwork among participants, which helps develop their problem-solving skills in environmental issues in their daily lives. The programme seeks to inspire youth to become advocates for sustainability in their communities by raising awareness and engaging them in hands-on activities.
Nawal Al Hamdi, Head of the Social Prosperity Department, pointed out that these workshops represent an effective step towards empowering youth and enhancing their environmental awareness. The interactive sessions, practical activities, and discussions motivate their enthusiasm and participation, helping them gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of learning sustainability principles. This understanding enhances their ability to tackle environmental challenges and encourages them to adopt sustainable behaviours, contributing to their preparation as future leaders capable of making responsible decisions that balance development with environmental protection, as well as enhancing their ability to engage with environmental issues.
She added: "These workshops provide an opportunity to build and test renewable energy models and promote activities that develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We thank the American University of Sharjah for its ongoing and fruitful collaboration with the foundation, which contributes to providing expertise and educational resources.
