Sharjah24: The third and final day of the Youth Climate Leaders Camp, organized by the Regional Office of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in Sharjah, concluded on Thursday evening. The camp witnessed significant international participation from youth who actively engaged in programs and events, presenting outstanding projects that reflect their aspirations towards a more sustainable future and addressing climate challenges.
The program on its last day included several key sessions, with the fifth session titled "Collaboration and Project Presentations." During this session, participants worked on refining project proposals and preparing presentation materials, each group presenting their project idea for ten minutes. Each presentation was followed by a Q&A session with the judges, adding an interactive and professional touch to the presentations.
The sixth session focused on judging discussions and the awards ceremony, where proposals were carefully evaluated, and the winning project was selected for recognition. The winners were honored by His Excellency Salem Omar Salem, Director of the ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah. The winning project, "Thimar," which offers customized organic product boxes connecting customers directly with farmers to promote sustainable agriculture and support farmers, was announced as the first-place winner.
The winning team included Nibras Al-Shakaila and Aisha Salem Al-Farsi from Oman, Azmat Fatima Mohammed Rashed from India, Hanouf Al-Sayari from Qatar, Saida Al-Taba'i and Fatima Mukhtar Ibrahim from Sudan, and Arwa Al-Zaabi from the UAE.
The camp concluded with a closing session where participants expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity, emphasizing the importance of their learnings over the past few days and their eagerness to implement their ideas and projects in their home countries.
In his closing remarks and after honoring the participants, partners, and the winning team, Salem Omar Salem, Director of the ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah, highlighted the great success of the Youth Climate Leaders Camp, emphasizing its importance in empowering youth from various countries worldwide and enhancing their capabilities to address climate challenges and strive towards sustainability.
Salem praised all participating and supporting entities, stressing that the camp enriched the participants' experience, opened new avenues for collaboration and communication among them, and commended the participants from different countries for their innovative ideas contributing to sustainable development goals.
He also acknowledged the achievements of this initiative as a real opportunity to enhance youth skills in climate action and a manifestation of efforts towards achieving sustainable development through the partnerships of the ISESCO Regional Office in Sharjah with the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, the University of Sharjah, the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, the American University of Sharjah, Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center, Sharjah Directorate of Antiquities, Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University, Sharjah Art Foundation, Manbaa, and Higher Colleges of Technology.
