Sharjah 24: The Rubu’ Qarn Science and Technology Centre, affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, concluded its first-of-its-kind foundational programme in the fields of advanced science and technology, “Nawah”.
The programme aims to empower future generations to enhance the scientific and technical scene in the Emirate of Sharjah, and provide the opportunity for participants to acquire a number of skills, including project management, critical thinking, and creativity in solving problems.

The programme saw remarkable demand from members of Sharjah Youth and Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, in addition to the Emirate of Sharjah students, in grades nine to twelve, who are interested in discovering the field of science and technology. The number of members exceeded 60 members, in its first batch, to be a starting point for delving into the fields of advanced science and technology, as members gained knowledge in more than 8 fields in science and technology through intensive training activities.

The "Nawah" programme focused on practical and theoretical skills as well, where 3 visits were organised for the members to three leading entities in the field of science and technology, including Google, Deloitte, and Rendered.

Panel discussions were also presented by 5 specialists in the fields of science and technology to share their technical and technological expertise with the members, including a speaker from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the founder of Ramal Company, Amazon, and others. The programme focused on enhancing the members' knowledge of the fields of science and technology to help them choose their specialisations at the school and university levels, and to know the requirements of the labour market in the future. The programme was met with great interest and turnout, as members flocked from the city of Sharjah, the Central, and the Eastern Regions to attend the programme. During the final day of the programme, the Hackathon Challenge was organised, asking members to search for a solution to a global problem using the skills acquired in the programme, including research and innovative design thinking, and then present them to the public. 18 projects were implemented in various sectors and fields in science and technology, including artificial intelligence, genetic engineering, energy and sustainability, agriculture and food security, and the health field.

It is worth noting that the award for the best technical explanation for the project, which aims to detect vitamin deficiencies through artificial intelligence tools, was received by Faris Ahmed Al Hammadi, Hassan Abdullah, Mustafa Hani, and Bashir Abu Al Shamat.

Dana Al Mulla, Wad Younis Al Hosani, and Hour Sultan Al Khayal won the award for the best presentation for their project, which aims to detect sickle cell anemia through artificial intelligence tools.
