Sharjah 24: Sharjah Children, an affiliate of the Rubu’ Qarn for Creating Future Leaders and Innovators, continues to strengthen children’s connection with Emirati heritage through the “Emirati House” initiative, which offers an interactive learning experience combining knowledge and practical application. The initiative introduces younger generations to the elements of Emirati culture and its authentic values through innovative approaches.

The initiative achieved a notable impact in 2025, with 2,640 boys and girls benefiting from 19 specialised programmes and 742 workshops focused on national identity and heritage. These activities contributed to familiarising participants with Emirati heritage and reinforcing their pride in it through diverse educational and practical experiences.

The initiative is represented by a permanent heritage corner at Sharjah Children’s centres, designed in the style of a traditional Emirati majlis. It features artefacts and displays reflecting aspects of Emirati life in the past, allowing children to learn about customs, traditions and heritage practices within an interactive educational environment. It also gives them the opportunity to explore traditional tools, learn their names and understand their uses, while highlighting the importance of Emirati majlises and their social and cultural role. This contributes to developing children’s linguistic and cultural skills and strengthening values of dialogue and communication.

The initiative includes a range of workshops and activities introducing children to various aspects of Emirati heritage, including falconry, Emirati cuisine and traditional dishes, traditional crafts, and storytelling arts inspired by heritage, in cooperation with several specialised entities. The organisation also encourages children to wear traditional Emirati attire during heritage activities and events, strengthening their connection with customs and traditions and providing them with a closer experience of the national heritage.

Khawla Sharif Al Hawai, Director of Sharjah Children, said that introducing children to cultural and social heritage from an early age contributes to building aware individuals who take pride in their national identity. She noted that the “Emirati House” initiative presents Emirati heritage through interactive methods that allow children to experience aspects of their ancestors’ lives and learn about the values and traditions that shaped Emirati society. She added that the organisation continues to develop programmes that support this approach in partnership with families, in line with the UAE’s declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family.

The “Emirati House” initiative is one of the leading initiatives implemented by Sharjah Children to enhance the presence of Emirati heritage in its programmes through interactive activities and workshops that enrich children’s knowledge, strengthen their national identity and deepen their connection with their heritage.
