Sharjah 24: The "Tafreej Al-Kurba (Relief)" project, implemented by the Sharjah Charity International (SCI) with the support of its donors, has helped 1,100 cases during the first half of this year. All of these individuals were debtors struggling to pay accumulated debts totaling 6 million dirhams, and they had been issued execution orders due to their inability to fulfill these obligations.
The association opens channels of cooperation with the relevant authorities in correctional and penal institutions across various emirates of the country to enhance its humanitarian role. This is done by reviewing the records of those serving sentences for debt defaults, with the aim of conducting social research to identify the most deserving cases and determine the assistance needed to bring joy to their hearts.

Assad Al Zarouni, Acting Director of the Internal Aid Department, stated that the association implements "Tafreej Al-Kurba" programmes, which enjoy significant support from donors due to the noble objectives of this project. These objectives include contributing to family stability and reuniting families with their breadwinners by covering overdue debts that have kept them behind bars.

Al Zarouni confirmed that the association, represented by the Aid Committee, has approved helping 1,100 cases by covering their debts related to housing arrears and other living conditions of the family, amounting to 6 million dirhams. All these cases are deserving, having been issued judicial rulings against them, with some serving their sentences behind bars and others on the verge of joining them in correctional and penal institutions. He explained that the association provides appropriate support to the families of those serving sentences, such as providing food supplies to help them live a dignified life.

He added, "We work throughout the year on the 'Tafreej Kurba' project to assist deserving cases in opening a new window of hope for them. We aim to foster the spirit of social solidarity, strengthen cooperation among community members, provide social assistance, reduce the gap between community members regarding their living conditions, and ensure a decent life for everyone. This can only be achieved by alleviating the suffering of debtors and those struggling to repay various debts, and by implementing shared strategic goals in humanitarian charitable work that aims to serve and elevate the community, achieve its interests, and overcome obstacles that affect social stability."

He extended his heartfelt thanks to the donors who supported the association in implementing these humanitarian initiatives, and he appreciated the cooperation of the relevant authorities in providing the association with the struggling cases that suffer from dire living conditions.
