Sharjah 24: The total number of “Iftar Sayim” project meals distributed by Sharjah Charity International (SCI), during Ramadan campaigns, from 2013 to 2024, amounted to about 11.2 million meals distributed at Iftar sites inside and outside the UAE.

Crossing borders to connect people

The project included the distribution of approximately 9 million meals within the Iftar project within the UAE, in addition to 2.2 million meals distributed in a number of countries in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE embassies in the beneficiary countries and under the supervision of SCI offices in the UAE covered by its external projects.

“Iftar Sayim” reflects social solidarity

Abdullah Sultan bin Khadem, Executive Director of SCI, said that the Iftar Sayim project is one of the main projects of the Ramadan campaign, due to its great value. Islamic law has encouraged Iftar of fasting people, and linked the reward of those who break the fast of a fasting person to the reward of the fasting person himself. This is a noble call to cooperate in providing meals during the days of the holy month of Ramadan for the poor and those with limited income, as this reflects the cohesion and solidarity of the members of society and embodies the principles of social solidarity among them.

Bin Khadem stressed that SCI has enhanced its capabilities to sustain giving and expand the charitable projects that it adopts to launch, and has found itself at the forefront of charitable organisations that work to implement food feeding projects among individuals in the countries covered by the SCI projects abroad, which are implemented through the projects sector and in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE embassies.

A project that grows every year

Bin Khadem added that the continuous distribution of this huge number of meals during the days of the holy month of Ramadan is a confirmation of the success of the project and its value in sustaining giving, and the keenness of donors to participate in implementing the project prompts the association to increase its allocations of Iftar meals year after year, as well as increase the Iftar sites that cover all areas of the emirate, and at the same time increase the number of countries covered by the Iftar project for fasting people.

Ibn Khadem extended his sincere thanks to the generous donors who did not hesitate to provide various means of support to SCI, which resulted in the success of these projects. He also extended his sincere thanks to the UAE embassies in the countries covered by the association's work for the great support and cooperation they provide, which had a significant impact on the success of SCI projects and work.
